Dear Lucy, Great to hear from you. I remember several students in the 70's who were medical transcriptionists going nuts over the possibilities of the Optacon to consult medical reference books. I suppose now that's all done online, but we remember when it wasn't so easy to access information...or for a blind person to access their own medical records! Do you use e-books for pleasure reading now? Our receptionist at Telesensory, for many years, who was blind, would amaze and astound new students by how speedily she read even poor paper/print quality paperback novels in between calls at the front desk! I don't know where she went after working at Telesensory. Those of us who were still working at Telesensory until a year or so before its bankruptcy still keep in touch through a TSI listserv. Maybe someone remembers her?
