Judy and list, I am one of those who began using the CRT lens in 1977 when I began working. To this day, I still use it when Jaws fails and Windows doesn't boot, although I find that the regular optacon lens will work very well on a modern LCD screen. As I've described on this list, in December 2007 I installed Windows from the ground up on a laptop with a new hard drive, and since it was a non-standard install, had to install the drivers for video, sound, and other PC components before I could get Windows to work. It took all my skills as a computer professional and optacon user to get it all to work, since the screen resolution wasn't too good before the video drivers kicked in. But the optacon saved me. I've done Windows installs before, but they were all fairly standard until that last one.
