Katherine, you probably make the best point, i.e. focusing on the most effective way of print interpretation to the maximum efficiency. I had not thought that through. I buy a coffee pot that makes coffee and a phone on which I can make phone calls. I have my heart set on an Optacon that will read print in real time with the brain as an interpreter. There are already GPS devices out there which are or at least supposed to be useful to blind people. There is no other Optacon device. This list has spent countless hours discussing the features that would enhance the reading of print and make the Optacon useful for more things. I think we would be making a tragic and fatal mistake incorporating Optacon features into a device with something else as its primary purpose. The market will be small for an Optacon that is only an Optacon but we cannot afford to have the ability to read print in real time disappear.
