Hi Dave,

I usually just watch from the sidelines but I just have to endorse something
you said. My association with TSI began in 1980 when I joined Wormald
International Sensory Aids as their Australian Applications Engineer and
Service Manager. In the time since I have had some level of interaction with
almost all manufacturers of adaptive technologies for low vision and
blindness as well as many other manufacturers of electronic products. I have
never encountered a nicer, more dedicated and competent service manager than
Mario Flemate. I was greatly disappointed when he left Telesensory.

Whilst we're reminiscing, I also worked for a number of years with someone
I'm assuming you must know - Peter Cracknell - who is still in the industry
as the Queensland manager for Quantum Technologies.

All the best,
Nigel Herring

Hi Judy,

I'm just fine, thanks.

My history with the Optacon goes back to 1986 when I joined Sensory
Systems as the service engineer. At that time, there were 4 of us in the
company, led by John Tillisch, whom no doubt you will remember well. My
main contact at TSI would have been Mario A.Flemate, probably one of the
best service managers I've met. Mario organised several service
seminars, both at TSI and here in cities around Europe. They were
definitely very enjoyable and the whole of TSI was such a vibrant place
to be.

I still service a fair few Optacon's from both the UK and Europe and
some further field in Saudi, but the bulk of my work lies with braille
displays from the Powerbrailles, Alva's and Focus displays, along with
notetakers from the early Blazie classics through to the Pacmates.
However, I still maintain that the Optacon is the most innovative and
versatile product ever produced for the blind and it is a testament to
its designers that it is still in use today as nothing can really touch
it!

Well, I best get on, all this reminiscing makes you realise how fast
time goes by!

Best regards

Dave Godfrey

Thanks Dave - I thought that was the case, but time goes by and I wasn't
sure after someone mentioned the PB.

How are you doing these days?
