Yee freaking hah on steroids. We couldn’t do nuclear experiments like that today. All bets were off back in the 50s and 60s and nobody had a clue. It could have changed history if they kept it up and they were darn close. Thanks for sharing.

True.

But I definitely have mixed thoughts on that.  See my Dad died of lung cancer directly tied to his exposure to Nuclear materials at Y-12 (Beryllium, etc...).  My Mom died of lung cancer directly tied to exposure at Y-12 (She was a secretary in one of the Aircraft Nuclear Propulsion groups..)   My grandmother died of leukemia in 1976, mostly likely tied to her time working as a seamstress repairing contaminated  uniforms.   I can tally up a dozen or more high school classmates who died at early ages of very rare types of cancer, all from specific neighborhoods and one of more parents working at AEC/now DOE facilities...

Changed history? Yeah.  But sometimes one has to step back and ask at the cost you're willing to condone?  How many of your own people are you willing to use up, how many unknowing bystanders with wasted lives is acceptable?

As I said, I have very mixed thoughts on this.
