Hi Rachel. I don't know whether or not Oleg is sidelining the years of
optacon experience. He is one of the most knowledgeable people of anyone
out there. His display, as last described over a yer ago, had a
resolution of 10 pins per inch. Not even close to the optaaconer's
resolution. The refresh rate of his display was about 60-100 Hertz. The
optacon's is at aout 230 Hertz. 230 Hz turns out to be, empiracly (spell)
the best frequency for human perception. 60 to 100 Hz? No. This is why
we question the design of his display.

The optacon II, by most people's estimation, Rachel, is a regression from
the R1D. The display is of a coarser resolution, with fewer vibrating
pins (100 compared to a44). The threshold sensitivity is not nearly as
responsive as the R1D's. The actual reading pace is sluggish at times
when the camera is moved quickly. The placement and design of the camera
holder, and the design of the case reduces the optacon II's portability.
The serial port was never really exploited as it still could be. So how
does that grab you?

Charles
