When my phone was unlocked the tethering would not work, that may have
been a T-Mobile thing. The other thing was that I had to enter the
data servers manually into the phone, another 5 minute research project.
American cell plans are much better value than our for $65 I got 500
any time to any U.S. Number, unlimited data, free evenings and
weekends nationwide. Calls to Canada are charged 30 cents a minute and
deducted from $5 credit that is included in the $65. We used those up
pretty quick so I set up a Skype to go number which allows you call a
U.S. number and then dial the Canadian number all charged at skype
rates which in my case is free because I subscribe to the $3 a month
unlimited North America plan but if you don't have plan it is still
only 2 or 3 cents a minute.
