Not really a novelty. :-) The old rotary-PDE concept, which has a
detonation wave circling around an annular combustion chamber, is pulsed
from the viewpoint of any particular point in the chamber but could seem
non-pulsating out in the far field. Back then, they couldn't make it
work; maybe somebody has a new wrinkle that cures its problems.
