Pat,
I got my training the same summer, with our classroom in the Flamingo
Hotel and reading my first Optacon book called, "The Rat Catcher of
Coomow" or something like that. I was probably reading at a level
equivalent to fifth grade, but I was reading!
Cheers,
Noel

Carolyn,
I've spent the last two hours figuring it out! Must have been
July/August 1973. I can't get it any closer than that! I did,
however, get the first R1C off the line. I still own it, after a
variety of trips to Richard.
We really worked hard those two weeks in Palo Alto. Came home with a
great skill set.

I've used a R1C and r1D right handed, index finger for as
long as I have read. Didn't want to wait for TSI to build a
left handed unit. Trained at Palo Alto the summer before
Nixon quit - lots of talk around the restaurant tables about
that. So, lots of years.

Hello Anne.
As I'm sure you will know, the advantage of an Optacon II
can use any finger on either hand to read, as the array isopen, and
not in an enclosed space as in the Optacon R 1 D, whichlimits you to
the index finger on your left hand.(without
