I like the Ii. Especially the much smaller size and that the battery isn't
built in.

As I'm sure you will know, the advantage of an Optacon II is
that you can use any finger on either hand to read, as the
array is open, and not in an enclosed space as in the
Optacon R 1 D, which limits you to the index finger on your
left hand.
