None of the nay sayers are explaining why the undertail coverts are
MacGillivray's and not Mourning or Connecticut. It’s my understanding that
facial patterns can vary within each of these species but not undertail covert
length. I would like this to go through a review process with all of the pics
considered rather than minds already being made up based on a couple of pics
(although I think Joe’s are excellent).

All,
I shared photos that Joe took with Jay packer and in turn he also consulted
with Eric carpenter and a few others. The consensus is female MacGillivarys
warbler.

Hi All,
I spent some time observing the bird in question and went home and studied
the field guides and photos taken. The eye ring is mostly complete, unlike
the arcs of the MacGillivray’s Warbler. The eye ring is not as bold as the
Connecticut and the underside yellow is brighter than the Connecticut’s.
Also, the under tail coverts do not seem as long as Connecticut’s. So, I
agree with Joe’s assessment of a female Mourning Warbler.

To my eye, the eyering is split and there is dark smudging anterior to the
eye, ruling out Connecticut. Also the primary projection appears to be
short, giving the bird a long-tailed look which is also inconsistent with
Connecticut. I think this is a pretty good candidate for MacGillivrays'
... though I could be wrong.

I saw Jim Crites at Clapp Park this morning and we tracked this bird for a

leaning toward Mourning Warbler – see what you think:
