It also depends on the context. I did a series of caches with Jerry in the
Raleigh, NC area called Geoville. There were 16 different micros
(traditional) that contained clues to 4 different ammo caches (mystery) in
park woods that in turn led to a final puzzle cache at the same park. Of the
16, about half or so were "boring" lamppost types but as part of the larger
series were very interesting. And one of them led us near a great Philly
Cheesesteak restaurant for a good lunch. In this case, my general apathy
towards LPCs was moot because each micro was part of the challenge to get to
the nice final. (Kind of like my general apathy towards going for a walk but
my obsession with bushwacking through sticker bushes for some Tupperware in
the woods. The context of a goal alters the experience of the cache.)

I also think there's no universal solution to making certain challenge
caches fair to everyone. Challenges that favor new finds of particular cache
attributes will put "old-timers" at a disadvantage. But challenges that let
you use previous puts newbies at a disadvantage. I think you just have to
take most challenges at face value and accept the owner's preferences.

Regards,

Zeke (ZLA)

I like to encourage cachers to hide decent caches and post nice logs, but
let's just try to set a good example for others to follow. If you like
someone's hide, say so, but remember that this is a sport and we shouldn't
tear people down for their attempts. If somebody goes to the trouble to hide
one, they deserve our thanks. All caches have a following, even the easy
park & grabs are fun if you are in the mood for a quick find. So if we all
try to hide caches for the fun of the sport, and encourage others to hide
their caches the same way, we'll continue to have a great time.
