I've read knitting patterns out of regular print pamphlets for years.
The color coding you reference is only when the pattern calls for
changing yarn color in more complicated patterns. In my case, it was a
ski sweater with a horixontal stripes motif across the chest level.
That involved making the stripe match through the sleeves and the
sweater body. I just needed a sighted person to help. There's no other
answer. I've knitted "moccasins" or slippers for men t hat called for
changing up to three colors in yarn. I opted out and just did the
patterns in the moccasins in the same color yarn. It still had a nice
effect. I often buy varigated yarn to add more color to any given
pattern. But again, one must ask for help to match up colors
correctly. (Sighted knitters put the different color yarn on the back of
the needles and bring it into the pattern as required.)
Hope that helps!

Hello everyone,
First, I want to tell you that I'm so pleased to have my optaCon ! repaired
and back home. I'm thinking what book to start with.
second, I wonder if anyone has any experience with reading knitting patterns
or their drawings. Sorry, I don't know the correct English word for these.
Could I take advantage of these drawings with OptaCon? Of course, I can't
see colours, since I'm totally blind. It is my belief that colours play a
role in these drawings.
Thanks, and happy summer to all!
Best wishes,
Marianne
