I can understand this completely.

I have only had four cable boxes in the last two years because of  
faulty Rogers stuff!  Each one I returned and was given a  
replacement ... no charge ... I just phoned them and said I wanted to  
swap out the one I had ... no problem.

Might be worth a try ...
