Hi Bud,
Peter suggested that it might be beneficial to add BookShare to your trusted sites zone which is something I to would suggest. Here are instructions to add it as I didn't see any from Peter.

In Internet Explorer open the Tools menu, ALT+T and arrow up to Internet options and press enter. Press control+tab once to get to the Security panel. Then arrow until you find the Trusted Sites (you might have to press tab before you are in the list).
Tab to the sites button and press space bar.
Tab and make sure the require server verification HTTPs for sites in this zone checkbox is unchecked. Then shift+tab back to the edit box and enter

http://www.bookshare.org

And press add. Then use the OK buttons to make your way back to Internet Explorer.

Let me know if this helps at all. If not we can try adding BookShare.org as a site always allowed to place cookies onto your system.

Best,
Jake

Hi Guys,

I am forwarding some notes that were passed back and forth between Peter Shelly and myself about my problem of not being able to sign into bookshare to upload books. I think Peter has run out of ideas and given up on me. I just wondered if anybody else might have a new idea as to what I could do. It's really a mystery and of course I can't send in any more books till I get this figured out.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Peter,

I hate to be such a problem, but nothing seems to work in solving the problem. I did disable Norton automatic feature and then tried to sign in bookshare with the same message about incorrect password. Any other thoughts? As I say it just started doing this within the last week. The Norton live update was a good thought but it must not be that. Is turning off Norton's automatic feature the same as turning it off? Otherwise I guess I wouldn't know where to turn it off. I did it from the systray.
Thanks again.

Bud,

I have been able to log into your account. It's quite possible that something changed in Norton during one of its live updates. You should try temporarily disabling it and then again trying the Bookshare site. Registering a new account would not make any difference. Thanks.

Hi Peter,

No I haven't made any changes like that recently. This just started a few days ago. I do have Norton but have had it for years. Is it possible to reapply somehow and fill in id and password again, or what can I do to get going again? Thanks for sticking with me through this.

Hi Bud,
Is it possible that you changed anything about your privacy or firewall settings? If you upgraded to Windows XP SP2, for example, this would make some changes. If you added or changed any firewall or anti spyware software, this could also cause temporary problems. Norton products almost always cause problems for Bookshare access. If you have any such software running or configured differently, it will be possible to configure Bookshare.org as a trusted web site. It sounds to me like Bookshare cookies are getting blocked on your system. Thanks.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the reply I just did all that but still no luck. I went to tools and arrowed up to internet options, then pressed enter, then I tabbed to delete files, then pressed enter, then where it said delete offline content it was unchecked so I pressed spacebar to check it. I also pressed enter and then tabbed to ok and entered. I tried it three times and still get the message about password error. Any other thoughts? Here I thought we had the problem solved
Thanks..

incorrect password even though you have entered the correct one. The way to fix this problem if it exists is to eliminate the bad password from the memory. This is how you do that: Go to the tools menu and arrow up to where it says Internet Options. Hit Enter there to get to a property sheet. Next tab over to where it says Delete Files and hit Enter. Now, hit tab until it says Delete Offline Content. Hit Enter there. Now, tab to where it says OK and hit Enter. You may have to hit OK on the following screen as well. ONce you are back in the main view of Internet Explorer and you go to the Bookshare.org logon page, you should be able to Enter your Email and password again with better success. Please let me know if this helps.

Hi Peter,

I've been trying to upload a book for bookshare and I keep getting the message that there is a password error. I have tried several times and still no luck, so I clicked on send me my password and whenit came it was the same one I have ben using for a couple of years or more. I noticed also that my id was not filled in already like it usual is so I had to fill that in also. Do you have any ideas as to what might be happening and how I can fix it? I've sent in several hundred books with this password without any problem.
Thanks.
