Indeed, I liked the no delay of the first models of the Optacon. It's great
for whizzing the camera around a page to get a quick idea of the layout and
where the print is and where it isn't.

Yes, the R1D is wonderful. Optacon II isn't as detailed. Very small text is
hard to read. I can read just about any size with the R1D.

I’ve had iPhones for 8 years now and it only took me a couple of days to
get comfortable with the touch screen. However, I am completely in the
Apple ecosystem having a MacBook Air and all the other computers in the
house being Macs. I also teach Mac OS and iOS here in France.
My iPhone is my library, my Gps, my barcode reader, my OCR, and many more
things. However, if I had to choose just one device to help me overcome
the problems of being totally blind, that device would be my optacon, and
in particular, my R1D.
