Oh, okay thanks for clarifying that for me. It would come in handy to read
the computer screen when my speech dies. Can it read the display screens on
devices such as printers, scanners and cell phones?

The contrast that the Optacon II reads is on computer screens. It doesn't
read print any better than the R1D and most usere find it more difficult
to fine-tune. When I tried adjustinng the print quality, usually the text
disappeeared altogether. But anyway, you would not find an improvement
readinng cans and boxes.
