If you can get AOL to eventually respond to your requests for a
screen name, I believe iChat is usable. It does not however talk
directly with MSN. It can if you arrange a Jabber account. At this
point there is MSN for Macs recently released, Adium does great,
however and might just step in quite nicely.
iChat also does Rendezvous. The others don't. If there are other
Rendezvous enabled clients on Macs in your network wired or wireless,
you can chat with them directly.
There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in.
