The question I am curious about is why iChat is even necessary for the=20= member but we'll have to wait for him to reply. Several months ago I checked into using iChat and found it needed=20 either a .mac account ($$) or a free AOL account. I did successfully=20 sign up for the AOL account and can access it through AOL messenger or=20= directly over the web. Beyond that, I have not used it not have I=20 accessed my AOL account through iChat. It appears the member posting the original post has a Sympatico account=20= as I also do. Sympatico is now available with MSN platform at no=20 additional charge, only the time it takes for the changeover. I will=20 warn you that Entourage in Office 2001 will not support the sending of=20= encrypted email but apparently Entourage in Office 2004 will=20 (encryption of the type MSN requires). Once the switch is complete, MSN=20= Messenger can then be used with a Sympatico email address to sign in -=20= there are PC and Mac versions available. Also, a member of MUGLO had recently suggested Adium as an alternative=20= messenger which allows any and all (?) accounts. We downloaded it and=20 my kids love using it. Not sure what the link was but it was free!!! Theresa On Dec 30, 2006, at 11:16 AM, Gerhard Kuhn wrote: I though iChat was just re-skinned AOL messenger.
