- Another thing to look for on the video is the ability to zoom while taking video. I have had a couple of Sony's that were over $250 that did not have a live zoom, but the $79.00 cheapy for daughter does. It may be that the Sony's were a couple of years older and the technology wasn't available or was too expensive, but it's a nice feature to have. Also, especially if you think your mom may like to use the video feature that sucks up a lot of memory, then pick upq carrying case for extra SD cards. It may be helpful to look at something that uses the larger sd cards too. They are cheaper, easier to find and again, depending on how old she is, the larger cards may be easier to use. The small cards may be too small for someone who has trouble with fine motor skills. Also, label the cards so she can tell them apart -- even if it's something as simple as CARD A, CARD B etc. That brings me back to the card case. Keep that simple too -- something with a zipper and simple, slide-in slot. I bought a couple recently that even made my 12 year old laugh because they were so overengineered. The one we got my mom and dad has the "Auto" feature in a different color. However, I had to black magic marker the spot it's supposed to line up with on the camera. Another thing I've told them is if they ever push too many buttons (my Dad is like the scence from the Dennis the Menace movie where he's in the garage with THE BUTTON and Mrs. Wilson tells him "DON'T PUSH THE BUTTON" so of course he does...) and if something shows up on the screen .. STOP and either turn it off and turn it back on OR press the button to take a picture.
