Hi, everyone! Guys, it's fine to make suggestions. I for one have noticed
a significant improvement in the quality of my submissions and validations
as a result of following the discussions on this list. What is absolutely
NOT acceptable is the insistence of certain volunteers that ALL volunteers
adhere to THEIR, and only their, standards for submissions.
If you want to reject scans with no page breaks that are of otherwise
excellent and very readable quality, by all means, have at it! However, if
another volunteer chooses to approve a validation based on text accuracy, no
one needs to assume that the volunteer in question cares any less about
Bookshare or its paying customers than you do. The intense feelings
expressed in this and other recent similar discussions points to the fact
that we ALL care about making Bookshare the best service it can be. The
fact that there is some diversity here is a testament to the fact that
Bookshare is what it is; a community of great volunteers who are happy to
donate their time to something they believe in. Now, could we please tone
it down already!!!

Amen to your comments to Guido! PEOPLE who download accurately labeled fair quality books know exactly what to expect. In the absence of directives from Benetech, who are any of us to impose standards upon others. It is great that we oursselves may choose to be topnotch submitters of the highest quality materials possible, but it is not for us to impose that on he BookShare system; they can do that for themselves if they choose.
