Robert, I have not used the Microtech, but I suggest the following K1K
settings:

Scanner settings:
Threshold: grayscale
Resolution: 400 DPI

Recognition settings:
Column oidentification: disabled.
Two page per scan mode: on.
Speckle removal: enabled.
Partial columns: ignored.
Blank pages: kept.
Recognition engine: Fine Reader Engine.

General settings:
Operator defined page numbers: used.
Automatic corrections: enabled.
Corrections of end-of-line hyphens: enabled.
Layout: kept.

There are several other settings, but they are much more situation
dependent.
Remember to download and apply the 9.01 patch after you install K1K.

Guido, I just ordered the k100 9. If you can or anyone for that matter,
write me off list about what to look for in editting books with k1000, I
would appreciate. Open book has never been a good editor so didn't try it
but am willing to try with k1000. I've been keeping up with the thread
somewhat with the blank pages but until you see it and know is in front of
you, then you will get a better picture. I should be getting it in about a
week or so but if they send the card through today, I could get it this
week.

Kurzweil is at 800-894-5374.
Microtek scanners are supported. Latest version is 9.0 plus the 9.01 free
downloadable patch.

What is their number? I had version 8 before so will upgrade to 9 if it is

for $95. At the time, I will admit, didn't know much about scanning a book

and will it work on microtek x12?
