Yes, they do use voice inflection to indicate bold or italics in the books I have scanned with them. I am wondering if they do in the Daisy files from Bookshare as well. If they do, then that would seem to suggest that the braille translator is not recognizing them in the rtf file, or just not translating them for some reason. If they don't, then that may indicate that attributes such as bold and italics are removed in the processing somehow before they get to the braille translator. That is, of course, assuming that K1000 and/or OpenBook are programmed to use voice emphasis to indicate bold or italics when reading a Daisy file, or that they are programmed to even recognize them. I try to take nothing for granted when it comes to software. <smile>

Kurzweil and Open Book, inflect the italics and other font attributes if you
set it to do so.

Daisy is auditory, and some of it is better than others, but it
doesn't inflect that much. Braille would be more apt to have it, but
the translator would have to make it happen.
