That's the way I do it, too. Front covers are the worst, followed by back
covers. The flaps usually do ok.

I do what Pam does, i.e., I put the text from the
front cover, back cover, front cover flap and back
cover flap in the front, before the title page, et al.
I've found that most covers don't scan--I have to type
in text.
