When I had this problem, Freedom Scientific recommended the following:
While in the OpenBook(tm) scanning and reading software
1. Pull up the settings menu "alt+g"
2. Arrow down to work flow settings and hit enter
3. Tab over to work flow modify... button and hit enter
4. Perform the control+tab command to get to the process page
5. You should be positioned on: recognition, use default recognition. If
this item is checked here, press the spacebar to uncheck this item
6. Tab to: recognition stradegy
7. Use your arrow keys to select: most accurate and hit enter
8. Tab to okay and hit enter
Remember to save the settings.
I believe Roger Bailey had a similar problem with line endings and also uses
Openbook. I don't know if he solved the problem a different way.
But I surely hope that this will be of help.

This note is really for Laurie Casner. It was suggested that she would
perhaps be ab le to help mne. When I scan, every line is showing with
paragraph marks. My thought is that this is a problem with the
settings. But I don't know how to change them or, for that matter, what
to change. I really want to be scanning again. Your help would be
appreciated. When I spoke with a representative at Freedomscientific,
it was thought it might have to do with workflow.
