Dear Cindy,

I liked the sound of your colorful approach to my boxes hurdle, but couldn't quite apply it to my program. Different systems, different buzz words, I guess, but thanks so much for trying. I'm good now, with a new command at my disposal.

Always with love,

Lissi

Lissi,

Try clicking on the rectangles and see if there is a
large blue or black space, if you can tell. Whether or
not you can see it, open Format, click on paragraph,
and see if there's a number other than zero in the
spaces under Spacing, Before and After. I've found
that when I make those zero, those blank spaces where
there were pictures that didn't scan go away.

Dear Jill and Everyone,

Yes, I'm validating the book and the map didn't scan
though the caption did.
In place of the map are a few words which I deleted,
but the drawings of
connected rectangles which are empty and take up
most of the page won't go
away.

The book has another map and many pages of
illustrations which the scanning
equipment seemed to handle perfectly. It preserved
the captions, but didn't
register the illustrations at all. The illustrated
pages were very short,
with just the captions and no wasted, empty space.

The book is a delight. It just has that one quirky
page.

I'm just working at another book until I solve this.
I did get the idea to
try to highlight the rectangles, but they wouldn't
highlight so I'm still
stalled.

Since I don't scan books, I don't know how the
machines react to the ins and
outs of pages. It seemed that those boxes might be
translated in to weird
characters if I left them on the page. I was
attempting to create a blank
page for that map.

Thank you for giving my problem some thought.

Always With Love,

Lissi
