Hi Natasha,

I used a Road Runner for a long time, and have been using a Book Port I guess for about 2 years.
When I used the Road Runner I thought it was great at the time, but I didn't like it when I had to break a file up into parts if it wouldn't fit on due to the limited memory. At times I would also run into some problems with the transfer software not liking a file. The head phone jack was also poorly designed and required me to put a rubber band on my head phone plug to pull it to 1 side. It also didn't take long to break the pocket clip off. Again, all these comments were about the Road Runner for comparison sake.

When I got the Book Port life was good! No more breaking up files. No more having to convert to txt. No problems with the transfer software. No more problems with the head phone jack. Much, much better battery life. Using Duricell AA batteries I get between 7 to 10 days out of my batteries. I mention them by name asI've only been able to get 3 to 5 days out of any of the others I've tryed.

The 2 areas where I've had problems with my Book Port were that once again the pocket clip broke off pretty quickly, and the batteries were sloshing around in the battery compartment, losing contact, and thus resetting my unit. I solved the pocket clip problem by epoxying it back on, and haven't had any trouble since. I fixed the battery issue by putting a small piece of foam weather stripping on the inside of the battery compartment cover.

Both the Book Port and Book Courier are a bit larger than the Road Runner, but the Book Port still fits easily in my shirt pocket, and resides there most of the time. I usually have about 20 books on my 64MB card, and that isn't maxed out. I also have a 128MB card that I put MP3 files on for trips in the car when I want to drown out my kids' music.

When my unit finally dies, I will immediately get another. It will probably be a Book Port as I'm comfortable with it, I've also been very happy with its performance, and APH is very responsive in upgrading the firmware and transfer software.
This is not to say the Book Courier is not as good, but I've just never used one.

Has anyone used either or both of these? What did you think of it? Is it something you use regularly? I've gotten the "ok" from my voc rehab counselor to pick one of these to get and was wondering about experiences. I've used the precursor to the Book Port (the Road Runner) and liked it.
Any thoughts are much appreciated.
