As soon as an image is copied or stored, it changes in some subtle way. Compare any xerox copy to an original. Depending upon the toner in the machine, the images on a page may be slightly darker or lighter than the original. Depending on the size of the page and the care takenby the xeroxer, the placement of the images on the page probably will not line up with the original page. Image storage, no matter how carefully done will result in similar changes. Sometimes these alterations make a printed image more readable but many times they do not. It's been my experience that any conversion of a realtime hard-copy image cannot avoid some alteration.
