Judy,

In response to your note, I am retired from IBM, where I worked for nearly
three decades; first as a computer programmer, then as a technical writer,
then for my last ten years in main frame system support. I prefer braille or
optacon computer access, and while working I used the optacon for my first
15 years, then switched to a braille display with DOS and Gateway, since it
was much less distracting to colleagues. I'm also hearing-impaired and using
speech would never have worked because I was on the phone a lot and can only
hear on one side so speech in one side and the phone on the other side
wouldn't have worked.

Like many here, the optacon was what opened up employment prospects for me,
and I am very grateful for that.
