I suspect that all optacons work on the same voltage input, it's just the battery charger would be different for the UK. Ours step 110 or 120 ac down to let's say 6 or 9 vdc, I can't remember the actual voltage, and in the UK, their charger would step 240 down to the same 6 or 9 vdc. Not absolutely sure about this but this is how most products work. Think of your laptop, it likes a certain input to charge and you just have to purchase different adapters depending on where you are. I'm in the USA and I suspect the circuitry for optacons here and in your part of the world are different, due to the electrical requirements being different. We use 110 to 120 volts to operate equipment here, and I suspect the battery chargers differ because of that, and therefore the charger input on the back of the optacon would be wired differently. Is there anyone in Europe who would have more knowledge of this? As for repairing the cable, mine was repaired; I think what he did was to cut off the defective part and re-attach the part that still works. It's shorter, but it works very well. I really hope you can get some help. If I could afford it and knew it would work with your AC (Mains), I'd loan you one of mine.
