Hi Rebecca, Thanks for responding. Currently, I have the unit charging. Since some of these signature lines area in a table, I can open up a fresh form and get the coordinates from JAWS in inches from the left edge and from the top. That is what I have been doing to locate where I need to sign, then taking my clip rule device to obtain the exact place to sign with my signature guide. Once I have master the Optacon to where the signature lines are, I am hoping that my muscle memory will kick in and help increase the speed in accomplishing this task. Thanks again for responding. That way you could also evaluate how your signature looks and know exactly where you're putting both the line and the signature. Teach yourself for success! As for finding the line on the form: Like so many things with the Optacon, it's a lot about personal preference. The challenging thing about trying to find a signature line is that sometimes it's extremely thin, so you may have to play with the buttons on the front, turning up the thickness; as well as moving the scale on the camera up and down to make the image bigger or smaller. You probably also need to find where the form says "Signature" or "client signature" or something and look either below that, to the right or above it. You will probably have to do this in a diagonal pattern, retracing your steps, in order to find the line. It might also be arranged in columns, so that the words 'Client' and 'staff" or whatever the categories are, are on the left and far over in the right column are signature lines. I hope this is helpful, it's such a variable, it would be hard to say what you'll specifically find. But then, when you do find the signature line, it's a fairly sure bet that if you can put your finger beside thecamera, feeling for the slightly raised line on the side of the camera, that will be a good place to sign. -----Original Message----- From: optacon-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:optacon-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Eileen Misrahi Sent: 01 November 2012 15:15 To: optacon-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [optacon-l] Learning the Optacon & Finding Signature Line Hello List, Now that I have tried all other AT methods to find a signature line on a form (for my signature) that needed to be printed for a client's to sign on an initial evaluation visit, I believe that the Optacon will be the only device that will accomplish this task independently. I purchased a refurbished Optacon in 2006, but since I was in grad school, I did not have the extensive amount of time to learn how to use it. I would appreciate it if those who have been using the Optacon since its conception to advise me on how to accomplish this and to find a signature lines. I know that this topic has been discussed previously, but now I am at a point that I can dedicate the time to learn the device. Any suggestions on how to tackle this would be most appreciative. My husband assists me with several sighted tasks, but I would really like to take ownership of this because I know it can be done. Thanks in advance.
