I once had a very convincing scam from someone who claimed to be
from British Telecom. I didn't fall for it as I knew more about
the subject than he did, having once worked for the company. He
used a spoof number, but when I contacted BT I was told that although we see
a false number, they can still trace it and, while I was on the line, they
found the originating number and I never got a call again, having previously
received several calls from this person who became rather persistent.
