A charger built for the purpose, will shut itself off before an overcharge can
hurt the batteries. If you use a different type, be sure it has the exact same
specifications, especially the auto shut off.

I'm sure Richard would have a replacement charger but it might be
pricy. Perhaps one could take their Optacon to a Batteries Plus and
let them recommend a solution. Old, simple technology. Trick would
be getting the proper plug from the charger with, of course the
proper voltage and current rating.
