Are you trying to save the contents of the Windows XP install?

I presume that's not the case in which case I'd just "format and re-install=
". Fire up the Windows 2000 CD and tell it to format the HD completely befo=
re it installs itself. Then, connect the PC to the internet and allow it to=
auto-update by visiting the Microsoft software update site (I think MS sti=
ll provides downloads of updates for Windows 2000).

PS To boot the PC with the WIndows 2000 CD, insert it into the drive and re=
start the computer. If it boots from CD, that's great and you're off to the=
 races.

If not, then you may have to enter "bios" and tell the bios to boot using t=
his sequence of events -- CD-HD-floppy (or CD-floppy-HD). You may also have=
the option to choose what device to use at bootup (usually a text list and=
you have 5 or 8 seconds to choose your poison or it automagically goes int=
o the normal boot sequence into WIndows).

To get into bios, press F1, F2 or Delete (depends on the machine).

Eric.
