Theresa, I have an extra copy of XP home if you want it. I just had to do the same thing over a bootlegged XP. I even have a license you can use. What I found with my XP experience was that I had to have windows working in order to reinstall. If yours is firing up, you should be able to install on top of it by just inserting the CD and following the wizard (I know that is the case with XP, but I have never tried to install a 2000 on top of an XP. If worse comes to worse, you can drop it off or I'll pick it up and reinstall for you (gratis).
