Subject: [leasbirds] Clapp Park today

Clapp Park is pretty slow so far today. I started at 11 and finished around 2.
Highlights included a pretty Robin bathing, a singing Green Heron that took me
forever to figure out, at least 3 Yellow Warblers that did not make themselves
known until the sun came out during the last hour, and a female Ladder-backed
Woodpecker that Kathy Heppert told me about and I was able to find on my way
out :) Thanks and welcome to the group, Kathy!

I tried to record the Green Heron and will add it to my list this afternoon if
it came out. Sounded like it was across the playa but when I finally saw it, it
was right in front of me!

4 Eurasian Collared-Dove
1 White-winged Dove
1 Mourning Dove
1 Black-chinned Hummingbird -- Female mid trail. The hummingbird nest I found a
couple of weeks ago has sustained damage and I did not see a hummer anywhere
near it. It looks like the top of the cup has been smashed out and folded down.
1 Green Heron -- Possibly 2
2 Yellow-crowned Night-Heron
2 Mississippi Kite
1 Ladder-backed Woodpecker -- Female.

3 American Robin
7 House Sparrow
10 Red-winged Blackbird
8 Great-tailed Grackle

until the sky cleared during the last hour.
