- Washing asap is crucial to not getting it. However, it doesn't have to be alcohol. Just plain old soap & water or even just water if you have no soap will go along way in preventing it. Even if you don't get to a place where you can wash for 30 minutes to an hour, your chances of not getting it are greatly reduced if you wash.
