28-30> > -> At the SLAGA Christmas Party, a group of us (mainly Gerhardus,
Lancelot, and myself but several others have expressed interest) decided that
it was time for another caching road trip. Perhaps other cachers from the St.
Louis area would like to go with us in one form or another. Gerhardus (John)
suggested caching the Quad Cities of Davenport, Iowa, Moline, Illinois, Rock
Island, Illinois, and Bettendorf, Iowa. The number of caches in the Quad Cities
is exploding and we think that area is ripe for a good old fashioned numbers
run. The dates for this cache run happen to be December 28, 29 and 30, 2007. We
will be back in time for New Year’s Eve at home. The tentative plans call for
leaving the St. Louis area sometime during the day on Friday, caching our way
through Springfield, Illinois and then over to the Quad Cities area. Once in
the Quad Cities area, we plan to stay at a hotel near our first Saturday cache,
cache all day Saturday, stay overnight at the same hotel, and then cache our
way back on Sunday. I ran a pocket query for the area using these options:> >
Give info for 500 caches> > Cache Types: Only Traditional, Virtual, Letterbox
Hybrid, Webcam, and Earthcaches. (Yes, there ARE a couple of Earthcaches!)> >
Caches of any container> > Return info on caches that I haven’t found (Which is
all since I have not previously cached in that area.)> > Terrain: less than or
equal to 2.5> Difficulty: less than or equal to 3.0> > Caches centered on
waypoint: GC15772 (An Earthcache!)> > Again, anybody free and wanting to go are
welcome to join us for the fun. I think a realistic goal of the trip would be a
hundred cache finds or more. Let me know if you are interested joining us.> >
