Hello Shaz & all,

Many things in your message.

With your Windows 10, if you plug a USB device, do you have some sound? If yes, do you have this sound if you plug or unplug your Apex? If no, what if you try to soft-reset it?

Then, the USB drivers will not have to be reinstalled because they have to do with the way Windows deals with the Braillenote. These drivers are required for all software which would like to manage your Apex, for exemple NVDA.

As far as I can remember, if therre is a mor dedicated part for Jaws, this one would have to be reinstalled.

About the volumes, since Windows 7, the volume can be set application by application, that could explain why you could hear the sounds of your game.

If things still seem to be wrong, I can imagine that the solution would have to be searched in Windows 10 itself, maybe access right issues or anything else.

Hi all, thanks for the suggestions to my Jaws issue. Tonight mum and I ended
up uninstalling Jaws and then installing it again. I got no speech during
the install and for some reason the volume was right down once we finished
loading jaws so once that was fixed all was good. I know last night wasn't a
volume issue because I could get a game using voice to work so the volume
was right last night.

Now I chose to uninstall all shared components so I assume this would
include the drivers I had installed yesterday. Someone said that I don't
need to install the drivers from Humanware anymore, is this true? On the
webpage it says they are for windows 10 which I am running and the lowest
version of Jaws you can run with windows 10 is Jaws 17 which is what I am
using.

I have gone into the braille settings and set it up to use the braillenote
as a braille display using USB and then restarted Jaws with the Apex
connected via USB but nothing is happening on the display. Is there
something I am missing?

My other choice is to try my braille sense mini but I would prefer to work
with my Apex because it has a bigger display. I would also like to stay with
Jaws because I know how it works and I don't have enough time before my test
to learn a new screen reader. I am already learning a new program which is
needed for the test so I think that will be enough for me to get used to
without adding anything else.

Thanks for any help.
 From Shaz.
