Dear Bud, and Booksharian Friends,

Bud, have you seen the lists I've posted of books I mail to submitters for free which they can either keep or pass along after they've scanned them? I'll be glad to mail you a list of the hardback books I still have off list if you contact me at

airadil@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

There's no money involved. It's my pleasure to help provide scanners with books that interest them to scan for the collection.

The lists I post to the Bookshare volunteers are books that I'll be happy for anyone to validate. I bought most of them for a dollar or less each at library booksales choosing books that aren't in the collection yet.

I have, literally, hundreds more, I'll send to submitters who wouldn't mind letting me validate them. These are largely books, both fiction and nonfiction about or set in Ireland, Scotland or Wales, mysteries, novels, history books, misc. books and books for teens and children. They are books I want very much to read myself, which I can do as I validate them. In the case of the books I want to validate, I buy 2 copies of the book so the submittors don't have to return the books to me.

I'll only send books you want. Twice out of the dozens of packages I've mailed, I put in extra books, but I realize that's unfair and haven't done and won't do that again.

Recently I goofed and mailed a book about dog training meant for Shelley to Larry and Susan, but I've already got the book Susan and Larry really wanted by my back door ready to mail. I also sent volume two to a submittor of a Mitchener novel not realizing the book had two volumes. Since then, I ordered both volumes from Amazon and they are ready to mail out so when she's finished with that massive book she'll have one copy of volume one and two copies of volume 2 to give, trade or toss away.

The library destroys more discarded books than I can bear to think about. Buying books for Bookshare at the Library Book Sales feels a little like saving these books from oblivion!

Do take care of your wife and yourself, Bud, and be assured it's all right for you to take vacations from scanning, short ones, longer ones or permanent ones. We're just glad to know you're all right.

Always with love,

Lissi

Hi,

I don't believe I'm familiar with booksfree. Where do I find out about them?
Thanks.

Hi Julie and gang,
Thanks Julie for noticing and inquiring. I
really appreciate that. My wife has a knee
problem and isn't driving temporarily, at least I
hope it's temporary. So we don't get our local
library books any more. We are getting some by
mail from a county facility, but they are all
paperbacks by mail and I have bad luck with
paperbacks. I am still trying though although
most of them we get Bookshare already has.
So that's my tale of woe at present. But don't
give up, I'm still reading the list mail and hope
to be back in business one of these days again.
Happy New Year to all of you good guys and gals.

I've been thinking about Bud Schwab the past few days and was wondering if anyone knew anything about him. Unless I'm missing something, I think it's been a while since there's been a message from him. Take care.
