Thanks for the upload and link Greg.
Its really cool to be back on this list after soooo many years. I started back
in 1998 and its great to see many of the same familiar names are still here!
Thank you,

I just finished uploading the last year or so of ARocket posts to the
archive I maintain at http://www.blastzone.org/arocket/. There's currently
over 20 years of posts there, >125k messages starting from July of 1998.
The site is old, the interface is archaic, but it works and has text search
capability. The access model is basically it'll email you a password to
get in if you've posted to the list. If you have any trouble, shoot me an
email. Enjoy!

Cool! My personal email archive only has a shade under 54K messages
going back to March of 2008. I joined some time before that, but a
server failure lost a bunch of my email archives from '94 - '08.
Some names from 11 years ago are still contributing, some have left for
other pursuits or due to a permanent change of residence.

Good work Greg. I still use it from time to time. Thanks for maintaining
this.
BTW: if you ever get a chance, the search via name has never worked for me
and it's something that would be nice to use if possible.
Cheers,
Troy

I’ve requested a password. I made a gentleman’s bet with someone around
2005 or so that Richard Brandson’s space tourism venture would not be
operational by 2013 if at all. I don’t recall if it was made to the group or
to an individual off list. I can’t find it in my AR archive and I may have
deleted it. It would be interesting to revisit the discussion and double or
nothing the bet. 😊

Yes, Helium would work too, a great propellant but pretty much a dead end as a
fuel. The first time I heard about using a rocket to reduce drag was back in
the 1980s in a conversation about someone at JSC who wanted to do it back in
the 1970s. Fifty years and nobody has actually done it? Do you have a copy of
this professor's paper? I'd like to read it to see if he actually understands
the part about removing the Sound Barrier and what the Subsonic Hydrogen flow
field would behave like in a Supersonic Tunnel of Air? I have many more
interesting question on top of that.
Hydrogen does not spontaneously combust in air. I was NOT talking about
igniting the Hydrogen,
Well, you might have little choice. If (as Doug shared) the minimum ignition
energy (MIE) of a hydrogen/air mixture is only 0.019 mJ; that should roughly
translate to a… well… not incredibly high specific stagnation enthalpy
threshold to initiate … well… party mode.
