Hi Martin, I would have been surprised had support allowed you to rename the ASM instances. In RAC at least these are defined in the resource profile: $ crsctl stat res ora.asm -p NAME=ora.asm TYPE=ora.asm.type ... GEN_USR_ORA_INST_NAME@SERVERNAME(node1)=+ASM1 GEN_USR_ORA_INST_NAME@SERVERNAME(node2)=+ASM2 GEN_USR_ORA_INST_NAME@SERVERNAME(node3)=+ASM3 GEN_USR_ORA_INST_NAME@SERVERNAME(node4)=+ASM4 ... USR_ORA_INST_NAME=+ASM%CRS_CSS_NODENUMBER% USR_ORA_OPEN_MODE=mount USR_ORA_OPI=false USR_ORA_STOP_MODE=immediate VERSION=11.2.0.2.0 The output is shortened for readability. I wouldn't touch this, although it sure seems possible :) Best regards, Martin > A colleague asked this question in a SR (it was all about 11.2.0.1 Grid -- Martin Bach Martin Bach Consulting Ltd. http://martincarstenbach.wordpress.com http://uk.linkedin.com/in/martincarstenbach -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l
