There is an outfit in Australia that produces Moon type quite regularly.
There is also a software program called Enterprise Moon which allows two
sizes of Moon type to be embossed on Index Braille embossers. This program
also allows for Braille labeling to be added but not at the same time.
I have purchased this software but have not conquered it as yet. It costs
about $275 U.S. dollars. If anybody is interested, do a Google search for
"enterprise moon" and you should get information.
There are many ways in which some raised print would be very useful to
both Braille readers and to those experiencing sight loss who don't as yet
know Braille. Moon type is the smallest set of print letters I have ever
encountered. It is easy to read, but cannot be written. There was such a
thing a few years ago as a Moon writer, but it didn't catch on or maybe it
did not work. I plan to persue Moon further, but it will take me quite a
bit of time.
If anyone is truly interested in this, write to me off-list.
