If we think braille volumes take up a lot of space, books in moon print would be even bulkier in that with braille contractions more words can be placed on each page than would be possible with moon print. Also, as has been pointed out earlier, with moon print, only one side of a page can be printed upon. Certainly, braille is less cumbersome than moon print would be. If I recall correctly, there were several systems of reading and writing for the blind which emerged at about the same time as Louis Braille's system of writing, which was apparently far less complex in that the patern we know today would have been far easier to learn and to teach.
