Hello,
I have the model R1C Optcacon in its leather case, the wall charger and its
soft-pack carrying case for sale.
I have a CRT lens which I will sell separately.
I haven't used it for years and it has been sitting in its soft-pack
carrying case on a shelf.
I pulled it out, plugged it in and let it charge for a day.
I tried reading with it. Amazing! My old fingers can still actually read
with it. After using it on battery power for about 3/4 of an hour (with all
reeds vibrating perfectly) it was still running just fine. I don't know for
how long a charge will last.
It is in excellent condition.
This is what Richard Oehm had to say after servicing my Optacon,
"Hello Reed,
Richard Oehm from Oehm Electronics here. I received and thoroughly cleaned
and tested your model R1C Optacon. You're right, your model R1C Optacon is
in excellent condition and works very well.
The tactile array is just a touch weaker than usual, which means I have to
set the intensity control to approximately it's one O_clock position to get
the very best intensity level for me. With most Optacons this "prefered"
intensity level for me usually occurs right at or just beyond the twelve
o_colock setting of this "intensity" control.
Even though this tactile array is just a touch weaker than normal, this
Optacon is still perfectly usable and does an excellent job of reproducing
all types of printed, LCD. and LED. displays.
Your Optacon is in excellent condition and I'm sure that any Optacon user
would be glad to have it.
The CRT lens accessory you sent is also in excellent condition and should be
valuable to the right person."
