I am so excited for you! Hearing that someone just got an Optacon is
fantastic. Be patient with yourself. I went to Philadelphia for a week of
training before working on my own. So, be patient.
If letters are not as clear as you wish them, play with the dials a little.
Different type will require slightly different settings. I know David will
help you. Good luck. Linda Yacks

Subject: [optacon-l] New to the Optacon
Hi everyone,
I just obtained an Optacon R1D. I know it is working properly because I
just had it serviced by Richard. But I am new to using the Optacon, so was
wondering what the first steps are to learning to use it. I don't have any
training materials, and I don't know how to set the
magnification/intensity/etc. Can anyone tell me what I can do to get started
or point me towards any training help?
Also, I was previously sighted, so I already know what all the print letters
look like. I just need to get myself accustomed to recognizing them on the
optacon.
Thanks for any assistance,
Sarah
