[optacon-l] Different Fonts in the Same Document

The funny-looking characters on the computer screen are just one example
of the need for the Optacon to read in real time. Many blind non-Optacon
users do not realize that a different font (not just an enlarged or
shrunken version of the same font) may be skipped altogether by a scanner.
One example of this occurred in a Harry Potter book scanned in good faith
for Bookshare by a blind volunteer. He or she had no way of knowing that a
portion of several pages werte written in a script font to resemble
hand-writing and had been missed entirely by the scanner. As desk-top
publishers become more and more creative, this type of experience will
happen more and more often.
