we re-installed OS X on the 2nd partition...safari seems to open and 
function.
downloaded Firefox as a backup.
now...perhaps you can help with this one..how do I transfer my daughters 
files from 1st to 2nd partition.
OS X tiger is on 1st + her garageband, Iworks, etc.
