Thanks Terry. I'm still pondering why the 5 ghz runs slower than the 2.4 ghz. The router is in my downstairs office and I ran the tests upstairs. Both on the same iMac.

I wonder if the pwr output is lower at 5 ghz. I have a lot of 2.4 ghz devices running so one would think the 2.4 freq would have more interference hence less speed due to retransmits.

Still pondering...

Set up Airport Express on 5 MHz  Wpa2, then ran speedtest.net test. Got about 5 mbs download speed. Ran the test on the G 2.4 ghz freq and got over 15 mbs. I got similar results on G using a Dlink 2.4 ghz router.

No idea why the 5 ghz freq was much slower.

I though the N 5 ghz was supposed to be faster.

Any ideas?
