When I proposed the original OnLine version of MUGLO and which was
accepted and been running without meetings until last year when
meetings were starting to be scheduled with some success... this was
prompted in part due to "The (main) problem being finding a topic of
interest to enough members" (see Wayne Dobson's message) "I would
like to see a 'Flea market' approach where there would be a few
topics discussed at the same time." this was done once many years
ago, which was quite popular but suffered in that the members giving
demos were unable to see others of interest to themselves... if it is
intended here to have several short demos in one evening, this might
work, but if a member is only interested in one or two of the topics,
s/he might not think it worth coming for such a short time...
An alternative might be to not hold any regular meetings (as with the
previous OnLine format) but discuss specific topics in a SIG format
(which is available in the present form)... normally a SIG would be
formed for a group of members who wish to meet for a series of
meetings... but I don't see any reason a 'temporary' SIG should not
be set up for a single meeting on a specific topic which would be
advertised and to which any member could attend... if considered
necessary the group could then decide to haver a follow-up meeting if
they wished... it would be the responsibility of one member to fix
the time, location, notice and chair the meeting(s)... thus for
example Wayne could create a SIG entitled "iPhone apps.", and fix
the time, location, notice and chair the meeting(s) which would be
open to any other interested members to attend... and other members
could create similar SIGs to discuss other topics...
I know this is a bit lengthy but it might help members to clarify
their own ideas...
